SkyMaxx Pro v5 is an X-Plane cloud and sky replacement engine boasting all-new technology for X-Plane that it's almost like having an all-new sim FSGRW Integration: The FS Global Real Weather engine is able to process a wide variety of cloud identifiers, such as Cirrus, Cumulus, Stratus, Cumulonimbus and Towering Cumulus.THis is a small LUA script which will make your clouds look amazing.Basically I seem to be running into three issues:Weather fighting (kinda like Z-Fighting for video cards) where two or three different weather systems attempt to fight for control of your sim. I will try to post some screen shots later today. Satellite imagery was used from the USGS seamless server. To further crank up the realism a few notches, they advise combining the cloud engine SkyMaxx Pro with the Sundog Software’s Real Weather Connector.Run apps - Runtime Do you want to run apps? If I Zoomed out on the map, I saw some relatively heavy rain enroute, but if I zoom in a little, it all goes away and gets replaced by light cloud. IE: Spent an hour last night looking for that window of weather that would get me into Singapore. Sometimes what ActiveSkyXP shows me is actually what happens in game and sometimes it is wildly different. I usual y spend an hour investigating the historical weather for a period of time that I think that the small Baron can handle. This is probably a setup issue I have with ActiveSkyXP and XP and restarting both seems to clear the issue. The second is where what ActiveSkyXP says the weather is (on its map, which can change according to the scale on the map) and what it puts in game. Outlook for mac signature formatting issuesI am ok with it going from clear to haze as I get close to an airport and the airports ‘local’ weather taking over from the interpolated weather outside that bubble but I am not ok going from clear, to a heavy turbulent thunderstorm back to clear and then haze within 15 minutes. It is an abrupt change between weather systems, sometimes occurring every 5-10 minutes. Its like when it starts it is download half the weather or defaulting to something that it had already downloaded and then, later, it decided to really go get the weather. It does not seem to do the weather smoothing that I was hoping for. It is better “looking” than the stock or slightly improved ASXP (resolution) clouds in that things don’t look as grey and flat, and it seems to do a good job at drawing very complex, multi-layered cloud depictions. It does seem to work well with Active Sky XP in that it draws what ASXP is telling it to draw. brand new lighting based on ReShade 3.1.0 , with PirateKitty’s Pirate Shaders, and Crosire shaders, with realistic camera effects, such as highlights bloom , camera light adaption , advanced lens flare , and chromatic aberration for a realistic touch. It does this stuff via Plug-Ins, so keep that in mind in case it starts to conflict with something. Overhauled sun rendition, with advanced glow and photorealistic sun textures featuring atmospheric scattering at dawn and dusk brand new cloud lightning , with realistic colours, and shadows X-Plane.Org ForumSo I’ve spent all day on this. It does make for some really nice screens though. I’ll really have to take a look at it in VR. I’m still not convinced I want to keep the FS Enchancer clouds. 30 and bumping them up gives me a non-dark cockpit…it only took me an hour to find that. Lua file itself.I spent an hour going line by line through the file making changes and then reverting, finally narrowing the offending entry to these entries, that needed to bumped up a bit to prevent some weird lighting interaction with the cockpit shadows:Set( “sim/private/controls/skyc/ambient_ratio_clean”, 0.70)Set( “sim/private/controls/skyc/direct_ratio_clean”, 0.70)The default levels are. I turned off HDR (in X-Plane) but that didn’t fix it - it was something in the. I was pretty happy with the Active Sky XP + FS Enhancer combination, but then discovered something in the TrueHaze.lua file (the one that actually is responsible for the clouds) was causing my cockpits to be very dark…almost like the HDR was too high. They can be a little splotchy at times and are not very dramatic as compared with some of the Cloud Art themes for P3D, which are amazing. But one thing that I really like about them is the transition in and out of clouds and layers. So, have been only flying with ASXP and the included replacement textures. But it does look fantastic.I’ve been pretty busy getting us ready for the move to Charleston and getting a hip replaced in the middle of this. So I don’t know what to do about that. Central California with free ortho-photo scenery and my current favorite ride.Edit: in that last shot the haze and light coming through the clouds is about perfect IMO. But with ASXP and the replacement textures, while the dramatic look (dynamic range?) is not there, leaving them looking a bit flat, flying in and out of layers and clouds feels pretty realistic.I want to try SMP4 with ASXP as the weather engine next and see how that goes. Some ASXP with included hi def cloud texture replacement screens. It always has too rapid a transition, like they don’t have depth and texture beyond the 2D view.
